Laminator Machine Operator

Reports To: Shift Supervisor

Back-up Position: Converting Operations Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Optimize safety (food and workplace), quality, yield, and productivity

  • Set up and operate Solventless Laminator to laminate rolls of flexible plastic film, paper, and nonabsorbent stock for use in making products for, but not limited to, food packaging.

  • Setup and operate meter mix adhesive dispensing unit.  This includes measuring and documenting mix ratio on the approved QC data sheets.

  • Reads entire job ticket for information required for the set up and running of production order.

  • Retrieve all necessary components such as applicator rollers, adhesive, cores, etc.

  • Ensure raw materials are the correct type, gauge and orientated to laminate on the correct surface of material according to order specification.

  • Check printed material for defects before lamination.

  • Adjust and maintain proper adhesive weight (lbs/ream) according to specification.

  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Responsible for quality control. Make adjustments as necessary during shift to produce product within specifications.  This also includes documenting quality results on the approved QC data sheets.

  • Ensure that laminated rolls are properly labeled and documented.

  • Ensure a clean and safe work area.

  • Complete production paperwork.

  • Train new associates.

  • Manipulate WIP and raw material rolls in excess of 1000 lbs. using material handling equipment.

  • Lifting up to, but not exceeding, 50 lbs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Be available to cover absences within the department as requested by supervisor and management.

  • Use and monitor Synaptik coat weight measuring equipment

     

  • Assure compliance with all SQF Procedure requirements.

  • Assure compliance with all GMP requirements.

  • Assure compliance with all 5S procedures and requirements.

  • Assure all products are manufactured in a safe, quality manner.

  • Assure compliance with all customer specifications.

  • Promote and enforce compliance with all employees.


Job Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Communicate orally and/or in writing, to other departments

  • Meet or exceed customer expectations

  • Ensure the training of other operators on essential job functions

  • Perform housekeeping duties as needed to maintain a safe and orderly work environment

  • Be able to lift, push/pull 45 lbs.

  • Be able to stand for prolonged periods

  • Must be able to walk up and downstairs
