Pouch Machine Packer

​

Essential Duties

  • Assist operator with the setup of Pouch Machine including jogging the machines and the setup of support equipment to form pouches of printed/laminated/unsupported flexible plastic film, paper, and nonabsorbent stock for use in making products for, but not limited to, food packaging.

  • Packers are responsible for making boxes for bags/pouches. When cases are complete, the packer will tape the box closed and put them on a pallet. Packers are responsible for placing four pouches on top of completed pallets. These pouches will be displayed outside pallet when wrapped.

  • During machine issues or set-up, the operator will mark a bag for inspection. The packer will give the operator the marked pouch for further inspection to make sure the issue has been resolved.

  • Must possess the ability to read and understand the job specifications to properly ensure the finished product meets all customer expectation.

  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Packer must check pouch specifications, zipper attachment, zipper closeable, zipper open, stand-up seal integrity, over-all quality, etc. and immediately communicates any nonconformity to the operator to facilitate adjustments as necessary and minimalize waste of raw materials and time. It is not the packer's responsibility to make final quality decisions. If there are pouches with quality concerns, they should be put to the side and inspected by quality control. Quality Control will make a disposition on the product.

  • Packers need to check with operators before leaving the production line. Breaks are scheduled through the operator, not at specific times. No walking off.

  • Ensure that finished product is properly packed according to specification.

  • Ensure a clean and safe work area. Packers will sweep and clean machine area for the next shift.

  • Be available to cover absences within the department as requested by management.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.

  • Prior experience in a flexible converting environment.

  • Good motor skills, mechanical dexterity and analytical skills are a plus
