Job Title: Field Service Support Technician

 

Reports To: VP of Manufacturing and Technical                 

 

Back Up Position:  Sr. Process Engineer

 

Job Summary

We are seeking an initiative-taking and self-directed Field Service Support Technician to deliver exceptional technical support services that drive customer satisfaction, optimize machine performance, and improve plant profitability. The successful candidate will combine technical skills with superior communication and problem-solving abilities to support both internal operations and external customers. This position is essential to maintaining long-term operational excellence, building solid client connections, and assisting the sales team.

 

Description of Duties

  • Follow all safety requirements, policies, and report any unsafe conditions using proper reporting protocols.

  • Provide technical services to customers.

  • Handling customer complaints on new products and providing on-site support.

  • According to the customer's product, evaluate the feasibility of improving the structure and process to achieve cost optimization.

  • Work closely with marketing and sales, and support on development of new applications for existing products.

  • Travel up to 50% of the time to customer sites for troubleshooting and repair of equipment malfunctions, film handling issues, electrical faults, and process inefficiencies.

  • Document service activities and share technical information across departments to promote knowledge transfer.

  • Perform additional duties or projects as assigned by management.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.

  • At least 8 years of work experience in the food or packaging industry.

  • Familiar with flexible packaging materials, structure, production process, equipment, standards, etc.

  • Familiar with the customer packing machine, potential quality problems and solutions of flexible packaging.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.

  • Effective communication skills, project management skills, critical thinking skills and logical thinking skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and internal teams.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing work schedules and prioritize tasks in challenging environments.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Ability to manage and de-escalate challenging situations with professionalism and customer focus.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in operating and troubleshooting slitters, rewinders, laminators, coaters, pouching, bag making, and auxiliary equipment.

  • Experience with pack-off and infeed staging for VFFS and HFFS packaging lines.

  • Familiarity with statistical weighers, scale systems, and film testing equipment.

  • Exposure to lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
