Micro Perforation Machine Operator
Reports To: Shift Supervisor
Back-up Position: Converting Operations Manager
Essential Duties
-
Optimize safety (food and workplace), quality, yield, and productivity.

Set up and operate the Laser Perforating System to produce precision laser perforation patterns on printed, laminated, unsupported flexible plastic film, paper, and other nonabsorbent materials according to customer specifications.

Set up and operate the slitting equipment in conjunction with the laser perforating system when required.

Read the entire job jacket/order for all information required for the setup and production of each job.
-
Verify the correct laser perforation pattern, recipe, registration, and process parameters prior to production.
-
Retrieve all necessary components such as, cores, core plugs, core labels, and other production supplies.
-
Set up and verify laser registration, perforation alignment, and web tracking to ensure perforations meet customer specifications.

Monitor laser performance throughout production and make adjustments as necessary to maintain proper perforation quality and consistency.
-
Identify defects in printed, laminated, or perforated material before and during the laser perforating process.
-
Verify perforation quality through routine inspections and testing in accordance with established quality standards.
-
Operate within all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), laser safety procedures, and equipment operating guidelines.

Responsible for quality control by making adjustments as necessary throughout the production run to maintain product specifications.

Ensure finished rolls are properly labeled and documented.
-
Ensure finished rolls are properly packaged according to customer specifications.
-
Maintain accurate production records, downtime documentation, and quality inspection records.
-
Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance on the laser perforating equipment in accordance with established procedures.
-
Ensure the laser work area remains clean, organized, and safe at all times.
-
Manipulate WIP and raw material rolls in excess of 1,000 lbs. using approved material handling equipment.

Lift up to, but not exceeding, 50 lbs.

Complete all required production paperwork.

Train new associates as assigned.
